Welcome to Dark and Stormy Night

Hello and welcome to the official Internet home of Walt Nickell.  Walt is the author of numerous published short stories and three novels that are currently making the rounds to agents and publishers.  

Walt lists his hometown as Blackwater, Kentucky, the fictional area in and around the Appalachian Mountains where many of these stories take place.  He and his wife, Angela, have been happily married for nearly 25 years.  They have three sons, Bill, Jacob, and Benjamin.  

On this site you will find short stories to introduce Walt’s writing, as well as some non-fiction columns written for online journals.  In the weeks and months ahead, sample chapters from the novels will be added to the site, as will other original writings.  In addition, information on new and in-development projects will be announced here first.

A variety of resources and links are also contained within this site.  We hope you will find this collection of information to be of value and, at the very least, worthy of reflection and further consideration.  Please look around and see what there is to see.  Material is being added regularly and we hope you’ll visit again very soon to check out what’s new.
